Poggio Pollino wine cellar
As we travel from the north towards the Tenuta Poggio Pollino wine estate, we cross the border that separates the Emilia and Romagna areas and venture up the gentle hillsides of Imola, along the Food and Wine Trail. The vineyards are situated on the lower slopes of the Romagna Apennines, and are spread out over 16 hectares on Monte Meldola, in the municipality of Imola, in the province of Bologna.
This is one of the finest areas in the country for growing vines such as Sangiovese di Romagna, Albana, grown here in Romagna for at least 1500 years, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate benefits from a windy microclimate with moderately loose-packed soil, idea for top-quality wine-growing.
